The one main accessible fishing site in Cairns City is the seaward wall at end of Marlin Marina jetty.
Cairns City Pier is just a short walk east past the Esplanade Lagoon and helipad. The fishing area is spacious, well signed and permitted only on the seaward side of the most Eastern pier. The secured area is open from 7 am to 9 pm regulated by the Cairns Port Authority.
